Meetup Group

We have a mirror group on meetup.com for the BVPDG meetings. Check it out at the link below. We will probably try to migrate the whole mailing list to the meetup at some point:

Making Media Now: Filmmaking in Transition/Full day conference for all film and media makers in New England

Filmmakers Collaborative presents a full day of master classes, panel discussions and keynote speakers focused on new technologies and the opportunities they create for film and media makers. Today

NO BVPDG MEETING THIS WEEK

We will not be having a BVPDG meeting this week. If you are looking for something else to do, you could try checking out the open screen at Coolidge:
http://www.bostonopenscreen.com/

We will likely change the meeting schedule before the next meeting (one meeting a month, on a weeknight other than Tuesday). Please keep an eye out for this info.

Recent BVPDG Minutes

Been meaning to post meeting minutes for a while. Here are just a bunch of quick descriptions/links related to recent discussion topics:
Important note: David Tames will be heading two seminars at the Annual Pro Video Show:

youtube.com can use your stuff without contributing to the artist. blip.tv seems to have a more respectful model. Read the agreement text.

Also, youtube reduces quality more than expected. >:O

We talked about the Hal Hartley film 'Flirt' where the same dialog is used to play out the same scene in different cities, different styles, etc.:

We also discussed the use of the 'Exquisite Corpse' concept in film:

Maybe we'll do something threaded among people for the open screen- maybe tied together by a sound effect transition.

Pasting Text from Photoshop/Illustrator into After Effects

Just got an e-mail asking about getting text from Photoshop/Illustrator into After Effects. There are a couple of ways to do this: Import the text file in its native form to AE, and then convert to editable text, or the more simple way, just copy and paste it in:
1. Add your video layer to the timeline in After Effects.
2. Select the text in Illustrator and copy.
3. Create a new text layer in After Effects (Layer->New->Text). This should be above your video layer.
4. Select the new text layer in the timeline.
5. Paste the text.
