Long term time-lapse

My recent futzing with time-lapse has made me think about more efficient ways to use this effect.  In this project, about 60 minutes of raw footage took up 8GB of disk space - imagine what one year of Bryant Park (below from photojojo) would have required shooting 30fps video!?  That'd be somewhere in the order of 70 terabytes.  Obviously shooting & stringing together stills is a more appropriate strategy.

Additonally, check out the wooden block tripod replacement from Haworth Village.
