nathanael's blogRedirect to quasifyOn the off chance you've found your way here looking for me - my currently active blog is at quasify rather than on evilmorsel. Other active projects include deconstructing dinner and hevelonian. Deconstructing Dinner: MonjyayakiI've posted the next epidsode in my occasional series Deconstructing Dinner here. Long term time-lapseMy recent futzing with time-lapse has made me think about more efficient ways to use this effect. In this project, about 60 minutes of raw footage took up 8GB of disk space - imagine what one year of Bryant Park (below from photojojo) would have required shooting 30fps video!? That'd be somewhere in the order of 70 terabytes. Obviously shooting & stringing together stills is a more appropriate strategy. Photojojo's Time Lapse Video of Bryant Park from Photojojo on Vimeo. Additonally, check out the wooden block tripod replacement from Haworth Village. Rock n' TokyoThere's an interesting interview with Pamela Valente on her film Rock n' Tokyo over on The Independent. Looking forward to catching a screening of this film if it comes around. This reminds me of shooting The Emeralds in 2005. HOCRMy entry for November is HOCR. Here is a full resolution version. This was shot in about an hour at this year's Head of the Charles. PXL THIS Film FestivalThe deadline for the PXL THIS Film Festival is September 22nd. Here's a PXL 2000 on eBay if you need one. Boston Film Night DeadlineTime is nigh to submit your $10 application to Boston Film Night. The screening is September 22nd at my most favorite arcade/stabatorium ever, Good Time Emporium. Panasonic HVX200I've been trying to convince myself that my correct road to HD is through the Panasonic HVX200. Here's an interesting post from hess media report that describes some of the specific logistics of tapeless event work (unless, of course, you get a big box of $900 P2 cards or $1800 100GB Firestores). One of the features that particularly appeals to me about this camera is it's ability to pre-record, which dumps three seconds of buffered HD video to the card prior to pressing the record button. That's just wicked. |
